Uncontrolled Emotions: A Handwritten Font That Brings Playful Charm to Handmade Products

I was sitting at my kitchen table last week, testing labels for a new batch of soy candles. The scent was warm vanilla and clove, and I wanted the packaging to feel just as cozy and inviting. I had a simple kraft paper label, but none of my usual fonts seemed to capture the mood. Then I opened up Uncontrolled Emotions, a bold and dorky handwritten font from the Script Amp collection, and everything clicked. Suddenly the label looked like something I would actually want to put in my shop. That moment of “yes, this is it” is exactly why I love discovering a font with real personality.

What Makes Uncontrolled Emotions So Irresistible

Uncontrolled Emotions is not your quiet, minimalist script. It is loud, playful, and unapologetically fun. The letters have a lovely bouncy baseline, with thick strokes and quirky connections that feel like someone doodled them with a chunky marker. It has that slightly imperfect, hand-lettered look that makes any product feel more personal and less mass-produced. The word “dorky” in the description is spot-on – it has a sweet, geeky charm that works beautifully for products aimed at people who love humor, nostalgia, or just a little whimsy in their everyday lives.

When you use Uncontrolled Emotions, you are saying that your product is not afraid to be a little weird, a little funny, and a lot of fun. That kind of emotional connection is gold for a small business, especially when customers choose handmade goods because they want something unique and human-made.

Bringing Candles, Labels, and Packaging to Life

I started with candle labels because that was my immediate project. I printed “Vanilla & Clove” in Uncontrolled Emotions on an adhesive matte paper, cut it with my Silhouette, and stuck it onto a matte black tin. The contrast was fantastic – the bold, chunky lettering popped against the dark background. Because the font is quite substantial, the words were easy to read even at a small size. I worried that the letter connections might get lost, but they held up perfectly on a label that was only about two inches wide.

That same day, I tried a “Farmhouse Candle” label with the word “Honey” in Uncontrolled Emotions, and it looked just right for a rustic collection. The font managed to feel both handmade and intentional. For smaller wording like scent names or short phrases, Uncontrolled Emotions shines. Longer sentences might be tricky because the bold handwritten style can feel dense, but for titles, product names, and decorative wording, it is ideal.

Stickers, Tags, and Packaging That Stand Out

Beyond candels, Uncontrolled Emotions is gorgeous on product tags. I made a set of boutique tags for a friend who sells handwoven scarves. The tag said “Handmade with Love” in the font, and the irregular letterforms made each tag feel like a one-of-a-kind note from the maker. The same font worked beautifully for adhesive stickers with a white backing – perfect for sealing tissue paper pouches or adding a whimsical logo to a kraft box.

If you sell printable party decorations, Uncontrolled Emotions is a gem for cupcake toppers and banner letters. I designed a “Happy Birthday” banner where each letter was printed on thick cardstock and then strung with twine. The font’s bold weight meant the letters were visible from across the room, and the slight bounce gave the banner a festive, handmade vibe that you just cannot get from a clean serif.

Wedding Invitations and Stationery That Feel Like a Hug

Believe it or not, Uncontrolled Emotions works wonderfully for certain invitation styles. I helped a friend design a baby shower invitation that said “Hello, Little One” in the font, paired with a simple sans serif for the details. The handwritten title added warmth without being too formal. For wedding invitations, you might use it for the couple’s names or the main phrase “You Are Invited” and then choose a classic serif for the event information. The key is balance – let Uncontrolled Emotions be the cheerful, bold accent that draws the eye, while the rest of the text stays clean and readable.

I also tested it for planner pages and digital templates. In a weekly planner printable, I used Uncontrolled Emotions for the day headers – “Monday,” “Tuesday,” and so on – and a basic sans serif for the appointment lines. The headers gave the page a creative, bullet-journal feel that many customers love. When printed on cream paper, the font looked almost like real hand lettering.

Readability and Cutting Machine Tips

If you are using a Cricut or Silhouette to cut vinyl or paper, Uncontrolled Emotions works well for medium to large designs. For small stickers (under 1 inch), I suggest enlarging the text or keeping the font for shorter words only. The thick strokes can fill in when scaled down too much, so always print a test before cutting a whole sheet. For iron-on vinyl on tote bags or shirts, a word like “Joy” or “Wild” in the font comes out crisp and bold. I made a tote bag with “Coffee & Chaos” in Uncontrolled Emotions using white transfer vinyl, and the letters survived several washes without peeling.

One of my favorite tests was a farmhouse sign – a painted wood plank with the word “Gather” in Uncontrolled Emotions. I used a large size (around 4 inches tall) so the letter details remained clear. The slight unevenness of the strokes made the sign look authentically hand-painted, and the font’s charm was perfect for a rustic living room.

Pairing Uncontrolled Emotions with Other Fonts

To make your designs polished and professional, pair Uncontrolled Emotions with a simple companion font. A clean sans serif like Montserrat or Raleway works great for body text, contact information, or product details on labels. If you prefer a more classic look, try a thin serif such as Lora or Playfair Display. The contrast between the bold, messy handwriting and a refined serif creates visual interest without competing.

For a cohesive brand identity, use Uncontrolled Emotions as your logo or headline font and keep everything else minimal. This works especially well if your brand voice is quirky, friendly, or aimed at a younger audience. Even for seasonal products like holiday gift tags or Valentine’s Day cards, the font adds immediate personality. I made a set of Christmas tags with “Merry & Bright” in the font, paired with a tiny gold sans serif for the year, and they sold out quickly.

Licensing and File Formats

Before you start selling physical products or digital downloads, check the licensing for Uncontrolled Emotions. The Script Amp collection usually includes a standard desktop license for use in products like labels, cards, and merchandise. If you plan to sell templates or printables where the font is embedded, you may need an extended license. Always read the details on the product page to ensure you are covered for commercial use. The font typically comes in OTF or TTF format, which works with all major design software and cutting machine programs. Some versions include extra alternates, ligatures, or swashes – open the glyph panel in your software to explore those special characters.

Uncontrolled Emotions supports multilingual characters, which is a huge bonus if you design for an international audience. I used it for a French phrase on a mug, and the accented letters looked just as cute as the rest.

Why Handmade Sellers Love This Font

The beauty of Uncontrolled Emotions is that it makes your product look like it was created by a real person, not a robot. In a market full of polished, uniform branding, a font with a little imperfection stands out. Customers can feel the care behind the design. Whether you are making boutique packaging, greeting cards, wedding welcome boards, digital wall art, or mug designs, this font brings a sense of joy that people are drawn to.

I have used it for everything from sticker sheets to large vinyl wall quotes. Each time, the font delivers that same “dorky charm” that made me fall in love with it in the first place. It is the kind of typeface that makes you smile when you see it – and that is exactly the reaction you want from your customers.
